Merv was born in Auckland in 1946 and grew up in Otahuhu. His interest in art began from early childhood and was given great encouragement from his parents.

He began his working life as a signwriter, setting up and operating his own business in South Auckland, specialising in Pictorial Art and Graphic Design.

He now paints full time professionally, exhibiting successfully throughout New Zealand with works being sold both locally and overseas. Merv is represented by the Monterey Gallery www.montereygallery.co.nz

Merv paints in both Acrylics and Oils in a style that can be described as representational, he also enjoys painting large murals.

His main interest is in the amazing Landscapes and Seascapes of New Zealand, with works featuring the majestic and rugged South Island to the beautiful coastline of the far north. He also has a love for the quirky Kiwiana, such as old rustic barns, including old farm equipment, vehicles and seaside baches.
